The inaugural By Word of Mouth and Macaroon Festive Celebrations Day was held at the beautiful Inanda Club in Johannesburg on Monday the 27th of October. Karen Short, foodie and founder of By Word of Mouth, hosted delicious Christmas Cooking Classes, with a focus on edible gifts. Her presentation was followed by Taryn Hompes and Cheryl Liebenberg from Macaroon, the personalised stationery and organisation solutions company, who shared fun festive crafts and their inspiring and creative ways to personalise and wrap this year’s Christmas gifts. The workshops ran alongside an upmarket Christmas market so guests got an early start on their Christmas shopping!
Toy Zone, Crazy Store
Below is the Preferred Supplier list for the Items used in our presentation and in some of the table displays:
METALLIC SPRAY PAINT
Builders Express, Builders Warehouse some smaller hardware stores.
The paint MUST be Metallic, and I have found the best range to be Rust-Oleum.
For the Reds and colours, try their high gloss enamel spray.
Eye-hooks from any hardware, must be the very small ones that screw in.
Fishing gut from any sports store or hardware store.
CORKS & JARS:
Corks and all jar lids available from The Consol Shop.
They also have a vast range of Jars including the Red lidded jars we use in our presentation.
A gluegun will always work best, but can be hard work and messy. You can buy a glue gun at most hardware stores or at Herbert Evans Art store.
I find the best option is to use Bostik - HOME Glue - which is silicone based and dries well without any issues.
NO MORE NAILS - Is also a relatively good option and sticks fast and hard.
PRESSIE WRAPPING IDEAS:
Sticker dots from most stationery stores, including Waltons, CNA, Herbert Evans, Game etc.
Pom Poms available from Wespack and Plastic Land aswell as most craft stores.
Chevron Packets: Flower Spot Woodmead.
